Caravan Industry Association of Australia Welcomes new National Board members
Following an election by the state caravanning associations, the composition of the National Board for Caravan Industry Association of Australia has been updated.
Caravan Industry Association of Australia congratulates the following individuals who were elected earlier today to the National Board for a two-year term;
- Kate Meldrum
- Martin Cotterell
- Grant Wilckens
- Nikki Milne
- Chris Woods
- Margaret Shannon
Kate Meldrum, Martin Cotterell, and Grant Wilckens were re-elected with three new members – Nikki Milne, Chris Woods and Margaret Shannon joining them. Current board members Donna Cocking, Brad Slater and Gerard Waldron were not subject to re-election and will continue to serve for another year ahead of a ballot in November 2022.
The board has navigated one of the most challenging periods for industry to date, while also strategically planning for the future proofing of the industry. Embracing a diversity target, it was encouraging that almost half of all board nominations received were female, and that four of the nine board members are now female, reflecting current community standards. In an industry which has been historically dominated by males in leadership positions, it is exciting to see females rising to the top and provide input into industry strategic direction.
Caravan Industry Association of Australia would like to thank retiring members Dennis Austin, Chris Goddard and James Kelly who each have offered their considerable expertise, business acumen, hard work and support over at least three consecutive board terms, with both Dennis and Chris also serving on the boards of CRVA and RVMAA prior to the merge into what is now known as Caravan Industry Association of Australia. Their commitment and support will be missed around the room, and we will look to continue to engage individually with each of them on various important Association projects.
Stuart Lamont CEO of Caravan Industry Association of Australia commented following the election;
“Today we see a real changing of the guard. We acknowledge the tremendous contribution of the retiring board members, and look forward to new debate ahead. The industry has many challenges and opportunities ahead of us, and we welcome the addition of three individuals just as committed and passionate about what lies ahead as those who have retired today.”
The National Board for Caravan Industry Association of Australia is comprised of up to nine individuals from across the industry with no more than five board members involved in the same Caravan Industry Category (Parks or Trades) as identified at the time of their nomination. The term of office for each elected director is two years. . In accordance with our constitution, Grant Wilckens will remain as Chair for a period of one year before subjecting himself to a further vote of extension by state associations, with other office-bearer positions to be determined at the first meeting of the new Board.
