Caravan Industry meets with heads of state

Caravan Industry Association of Australia CEO Stuart Lamont had the privilege of attending an intimate boardroom dinner for the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese last week.

This was an opportunity to highlight the diverse nature of our important industry sector around jobs in Australian manufacturing, disaster and agriculture accommodation, and affordable housing.  It was also an opportunity to express our frustration at the level of strong enforcement by our regulators (or lack thereof) against non-compliance which threatens the viability of genuine businesses looking to provide a compliant and quality product to market, as well as, in some cases consumer safety.

The caravan industry crosses over so many Government portfolios and there is an open invitation for the Prime Minister and his Cabinet Ministers to join with us at industry businesses to see for themselves how resourceful our industry is towards contributing to the social and economic fabric of the nation.  We appreciate the open engagement we have with the Australian Government and look forward to this continuing.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Government Relations Luke Chippindale was the guest of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we work closely with ACCI on a number of industry issues as well as represent the industry on ACCI committees, including their tourism committees. We were privileged to spend time with the ACCI team while hearing insights from the Federal Budget by Treasurer Dr Jim Chalmers.
