At a meeting of the members of the Transitional Board of Caravan Industry Association of Australia last week it was confirmed that Stuart Lamont would lead the organisation as Chief Executive Officer.
“Stuart has shown an ability to challenge the status quo in driving Caravan RV & Accommodation Industry of Australia Ltd forward since being appointed Chief Executive Officer in November 2011,” said Mark Lindsay, Chairman of Caravan Industry Association of Australia.
“Change management is always confronting, and it is important that we have stability in industry leadership, and the confirmation of Stuart as Chief Executive Officer of Caravan Industry Association of Australia is seen as an important step in bringing the various industry sectors even closer together into the future,” said Mr Lindsay.
Industry marketing, lobbying and advocacy, compliance and accreditation, training, and research are all expected to form important pillars of the single national body.
“Working cooperatively with State Associations will also be a priority under a unified national body, as we examine how synergies can be exploited for the industry benefit,” said Mr Lamont.
In other news, the members of the Transitional Board also confirmed the intention to add Ben Binns as a sixth Executive Director of Caravan Industry Association of Australia. Ben Binns will join Mark Lindsay, Barry Barker, Dennis Austin, Steve Bartlett, and Matt Slee. Mr Binns is currently the Chairman of Recreational Vehicle Manufacturers Association of Australia.
Nominations for the newly created RV Manufacturers’ Advisory Sub-Committee have now also closed with many more nominations received than available positions. The final composition is expected to be confirmed in the coming fortnight.
“The number and quality of nominations received is a clear indication of the genuine interest in driving industry advancement, and ensuring that manufacturing issues are represented on the national agenda, along with other important industry sectors,” said Mr Lamont.
Other sector working groups are expected to be announced in the coming months.
The new peak national body will commence trading as Caravan Industry Association of Australia on 12 July 2014.
