Compliance Changes in 2021 – what you need to know!
2021 is set to be the biggest year yet for our industry. With the Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA) commencing in full on 1 July 2021, every Recreational Vehicle Manufacturer and Importer needs to be getting prepared for these industry wide changes.
In addition, the revised version of the gas installation standard (AS/NZS 5601.2:2020) was published in October 2020 and is set to be enforced around the country in the coming months.
The electrical installation standard (AS/NZS 3001) is progressing behind the scenes with Standards Australia, with Caravan Industry Association of Australia holding a seat on this Standards committee on behalf of industry. It is highly likely a second round of public comment will occur in the coming months, and with so many changes (e.g. battery location requirements) industry businesses are strongly encouraged to keep an eye out for more information.
As well as holding seats on the above Australian Standards Committees on behalf of industry, Caravan Industry Association of Australia throughout 2021 will continue sitting on over 10 Federal Vehicle Regulator Committees including the Strategic Vehicle Safety and Environment Group (SVSEG), Technical Liaison Group (TLG) and associated Standing Committees and Working Groups, Vehicle Standards Maintenance Advisory Group (VSMAG) and the Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA) Implementation Groups.
In amongst all this regulator and standards activity, the RVMAP Technical Team will continue conducting compliance reviews on Recreational Vehicles around the country at industry Caravan Shows and Manufacturing Facilities.
