Daniel Tilton Supports the Homeless in the CEO Sleepout

On Thursday 22 June, Next Generation Holiday Parks’ CEO, Daniel Tilton, will join in the fight against homelessness at the annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout® on the Gold Coast.

More than 105,000 Australians experience homelessness every night — 27 per cent are children, and 23 per cent are faced with the situation due to domestic and family violence.

Daniel is striving to raise $5,000 to help the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) provide immediate relief to people in crisis and bring to light the harsh reality faced by those who have no place to call home.

“I’m proud to participate in Vinnies CEO Sleepout® because it’s a small sacrifice I can make, that can potentially make a big impact on the lives of people doing it tough”, Daniel said.

“Many people have a stereotypical view of what homelessness looks like and I am hoping to shed a light on the fact that these are everyday people like you and me. It’s astounding how many people out there are just one bit of bad luck away from being homeless themselves”

Daniel will join 200 other business, government and community leaders at the Sleepout® to experience firsthand what it can be like to be homeless.

Daniel and other leaders will brave the elements, sleeping on the cold, hard concrete at CBUS Super Stadium.

Last year, Queensland participants raised more than $1.2 million, which helped Vinnies to provide assistance to 265,024 people — one in every 18 Queenslanders.

St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland CEO, Peter Maher, said the Vinnies CEO Sleepout® is a great opportunity for leaders to come together to make a real difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

“This year, we want people to understand the reality of homelessness is far from the stereotype,” Mr Maher said.

“Homelessness has many faces. Behind each statistic is the story of an everyday Australian who hss come on hard times.

“With many Australians only two pay days away from being homeless, it’s a reality many of us could face. “This is why we need everyone’s support to fight homelessness.”

Vinnies provides crisis accommodation to individuals experiencing homelessness, as well as advocacy support, budgeting services, living skills programs, emergency relief, transitional housing and access to programs that help rebuild lives.
