New Research Appointment

Caravan Industry Association of Australia has appointed a dedicated researcher Peter Clay, to commence February 1. Peter will play an important role in raising the research capability of the organisation and will work closely with the state associations and other key industry partners on the development of key research projects on behalf of the industry.

Peter is a teaching associate and tutor at Monash University in the Tourism Program and is currently completing his PhD after completing a Double Major in Ecotourism and Tourism and a Master of Arts in Tourism.

He has been a tourism researcher in ethical tourism in Indonesia, has implemented an IVS survey for Uzbekistan, provided a situation analysis and needs assessment for the World Heritage listed Chang’an-Tianshan Heritage Corridor spanning China, Kazakhstan and Krygystan as well as undertaking tourism sustainability projects in Australia.

Peter is incredibly confident, has a commercial background in tourism (travel agents, travel recruitment and cruising), and has a great grasp of tourism data within Australia as well as having both University contacts and knowledge of the Tourism Research Australia Satellite Accounts.

Peter will be used initially to automate research collection data for tourism accommodation, working with BDO and external agencies on ongoing projects, working on completing economic contribution analysis for each state, and the development of an industry research profile document.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia’s research capabilities will increase substantially with this appointment, as Peter works to build on research that we have, and finding new avenues for further information gathering.
