Tribute

Second son to Bruce and Bessie East, Alan grew up in the 1940s-1960s alongside his brothers Robert and Phillip helping at the family’s dairy farm and caravan park, originally known as ‘Prospect’ and which would later become Easts Beach in Kiama.

Alan left school to work full time in the family business and in the early 1980s, and when the family purchased the Fountain Caravan Park at Eden and Ocean Beach Caravan Park at Umina, Alan and his wife Sandra and their family moved to manage these parks.

Over the years Alan also purchased Calypso Caravan Park in Yamba, Bathurst Caravan Park and Manning Point Caravan Park, and he became a well-known and well-respected leader in the industry.

Alan served on the CCIA NSW Board of Directors in the late 1980s and was extremely involved with the Central Coast region as Chairman for many years.

Alan was also a key member of BIG4 in its early years, holding the position of Vice Chairman and he was known for driving the group’s focus on higher standards through the Park Coordination & Inspection Committee. Together, Alan and Sandra presented the Supreme Award for Excellence to the premier park in the BIG4 chain every year.

Alan will sadly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. We extend our deepest condolences to Alan’s family.
