In March this year, the ATO introduced a Superannuation Guarantee (SG) amnesty for employers to “self-correct” past unpaid SG amounts. While the government’s amnesty deadline of 7 September 2020 remains unchanged, it will be offering help to some employers.
For employers who’d like to participate in the SG amnesty, and who’ve been financially affected either by COVID-19 or the 2019-2020 bushfires, the ATO will provide assistance by helping to create a payment plan. This could include flexible payment terms and amounts, or potentially extending the payment plan to beyond the September deadline.
