Prohibited equipment

  • Socket outlets, switches and electrical equipment
  • Low voltage and extra-low voltage devices must not be fitted in this zone

The prohibited area

The prohibited area is any surface that is within:

  • 150mm from edge of cooktop
  • Between cooktop surface and any range hood or cupboard directly overhead

The prohibited area does not extend up surrounding walls that are above the height of the range hood. This is a variation from AS/NZS 3000 requirements.
