BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort achieves Hall of Fame status at Australian Tourism Awards
Caravan Industry Association of Australia congratulates BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort on winning Gold in the Caravan and Holiday Parks category at the 2024 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
The Queensland business was presented with the award at a gala event in Adelaide last Friday (21 March).
It was the third consecutive year BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort won Gold in this category, qualifying the business for entry into the Australian Tourism Awards’ prestigious Hall of Fame.
“The Australian Tourism Awards recognise the very best tourism operators the country has to offer,” said Stuart Lamont, CEO of Caravan Industry Association of Australia. “It’s a huge achievement to win one of these awards, let alone three in a row.
“Congratulations to Greg McKinnon and his team at BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort – their outstanding work continues to set the gold standard for caravan holiday parks across the country.”
Lamont also congratulated Canberra’s Alivio Tourist Park and Tasmania’s BIG4 St Helens Holiday Park for taking home Silver and Bronze respectively in the Caravan and Holiday Parks category.
Other finalists for the award included BIG4 West Beach Parks (South Australia), Darwin FreeSpirit Resort (Northern Territory), Holiday Haven Lake Conjola (New South Wales), Mandalay Holiday Resort (Western Australia), and Valley View Caravan Park (Victoria).
BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort was also a finalist in the Excellence in Accessible Tourism category.
“Caravan holiday parks are major economic drivers for Australia’s tourism sector, generating almost $14 billion of revenue each year,” Lamont said.
“It’s important the industry continues to be recognised amongst mainstream tourism, acknowledging the valuable contribution caravan holiday parks make to regional communities and visitor dispersal. Showcasing the very best in our industry on a national stage highlights the amazing diversity available throughout the sector.”
Five of the eight finalists in the Caravan and Holiday Parks category, including BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort, are accredited under Caravan Industry Association of Australia’s Caravan /Holiday Park Accreditation Program, which promotes best practice, business standards and risk mitigation.
