Caravan Industry Association of Australia welcomes Scott Morrison as incoming Prime Minister
Caravan Industry Association of Australia CEO, Stuart Lamont, warmly congratulated Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg on their election as Leader and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party today.
Mr Lamont said both Mr. Morrison and Mr. Frydenberg had previously constructively engaged with industry representatives and looked forward to that continuing.
“It is important that any Australian government recognises the role that tourism, and the caravan industry in particular, plays as a key driver of sustainable economic growth and job creation particularly in regional and rural Australia.”
Mr Lamont said Australia’s soon to be 30th Prime Minister had demonstrated strong support for small business with an enviable record of job growth in his role as Treasurer, and would have “a better understanding of the needs of the needs of the tourism sector than most politicians”, having previously been Tourism Australia’s first Managing Director.
The caravan and camping industry is of significant value to Australia’s economy and contributes approximately $20.4 billion of economic value each year while also generating over 53, 000 direct jobs.
As the industry’s peak body the Caravan Industry Association of Australia looks forward to working with the government on all relevant policies and wished the new Prime Minister, the Nationals and the Government well.
