Making your pool accessible: Why it’s worth it

Article by Accessible Accommodation

Our research shows caravan holiday parks with accessible pools receive 15 times more bookings than those without – proof that inclusivity isn’t just good ethics, it’s good business.

Now, picture this: Dad uses a wheelchair, and his kids are laughing and splashing in the pool. How does he feel, sitting poolside, unable to join in? Accessibility isn’t just about ramps and rails – it’s about dignity, participation, and shared moments.

There are two main ways to make your pool accessible. If you’ve got a beach-style pool with a gentle decline, that’s a great start. Add a grab rail and you’ll make it safer for people who use walkers, canes, or just need a little extra stability.

Want to go to the next level? Add a pool wheelchair. Starting at around $2,500, these allow guests to enter the water safely and comfortably, following the gentle slope into the pool.

Don’t have a beach-style entry? No worries. A pool hoist – starting from about $11,500 – is a fantastic solution. Wheelchair users are transferred from their chair into the hoist and gently lowered into the water.

And here’s the splash of good news: Para Mobility is offering exclusive discounted rates for all Accessible Accommodation properties.
