Winners take home final major Jayco prize

Christmas came early for Ash and Sarah Williams this week.
In July, Caravan Industry Association collaborated with Jayco, Top Parks, Dometic and News Corp to launch the Win a Weekender promotion and offer readers the chance to win one of three Jayco recreationsl vehicles, plus daily prize packs from Dometic and Top Parks.
To his surprise, Ash was one of the major winners and has taken home a brand new Jayco Journey caravan from Jayco Ballarat.
“Ash never normally enters competitions; he saw this in the Herald Sun but he couldn’t even remember entering until we got a call from my godfather saying his name was in the paper,” Ash’s wife Sarah said.
“Ash made inquiries with the Herald Sun and they confirmed he had won- it was actually amazing, he never ever enters competitions and that’s why he didn’t believe it!’
“We have had Jaycos in the past, and a few years ago when we were looking at the previous one we purchased, we had a look around the whole yard and decided to look at what we’d get when the kids grow up- it’s amazing, because the van he won is the same as the one we looked at that we thought would be perfect for us!”
“When we went up to the dealership and looked at the one he won, we both said ‘oh my god, this is the van we wanted!”
Ash and Sarah are planning on testing out the new caravan with a few short trips in January, followed by a longer trip at Easter.
Sarah said they love the flexibility of caravan and camping holidays.
“We can easily explore various towns and states, and we love the fact that with a van, it can go anywhere,” she said.
“We have a 12 and 13 year old and they love it as well. Our son has a double swag so when we go away he wants to sleep outside and our daughter will sleep on the couch, so that works out well. We’ll be able to all enjoy it as a family.”
“We are immensely grateful; we feel so grateful to all the stakeholders for making it possible. We never usually have this kind of luck and we still can’t believe it.”
The Win a Weekender competition was News Corp Australia’s most successful competition in years and attracted over 460, 000 entries following a combination of masthead promotion, social media and website content. NewsCorp Australia newspapers reach a total of 11.9 million Australians every month.
Additionally, the competition was promoted in over 1800 news agents around the country in a fantastic extension of the print and digital promotion designed to engage people from the minute they entered the store.
