Adelaide Hills Convention Centre Wins Gold
The Adelaide Hills Convention Centre has put Hahndorf on the map with a gold win at the 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
On February 23, more than 800 key industry representatives gathered at the Optus Stadium in Perth for the tourism industry’s peak awards which recognise and promote excellence in tourism.
The night was a huge success for South Australia, taking home a total of two national gold wins, three silver awards, and five bronze awards.
The Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, located within the Hahndorf Resort, was proud to take home the award for Best Business Event Venue in Australia providing unique, world class business event services and facilities.
General Manager Victoria Fox, along with owners Brian and Lynn Schirripa, accepted the national award on the night.
“This award recognises the hard work that our dedicated team has put in for the last three and a half years to build a quality tourism product that’s putting Hahndorf and the Adelaide Hills on the map,” she said.
“I thank the Schirripa family for having the passion and vision to invest in and develop our state of the art venue.”
Adelaide Hills Convention Centre is located 20 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD and was fully-renovated three years ago.
The Schirripa family purchased the Hahndorf Resort and on-site Convention Centre in 2013 with a vision to create an innovative, sustainable, profitable long-term family tourism business.
The family strive to help their guests to connect with the Adelaide Hills Region through unique experiences, Hahndorf Resort’s proximity to the Main Street of Hahndorf and surrounding areas, and through developing collaborative opportunities with other businesses and tourism bodies
In 2017 the centre welcomed over 10,500 guests for 142 events, with 30% of guests dining elsewhere in the region.
