Advocacy efforts in the lead-up to Federal Election
As the Federal Election approaches, Caravan Industry Association of Australia has been actively engaging with both sides of politics to ensure the priorities of the caravan holiday park sector are firmly on the national agenda. Our advocacy has centred on key issues that impact operators, industry sustainability, and consumer safety—focusing on reducing operational costs, increasing support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), promoting safer roads, and driving policies that encourage regional dispersal.
With rising costs continuing to challenge industry, we have been advocating for policies that alleviate financial pressures, particularly for SMEs that form the backbone of our industry. Measures such as targeted relief on regulatory compliance, infrastructure investment incentives, and streamlined approvals for park expansion and upgrades remain a top priority in our discussions with policymakers.
Safety remains a cornerstone of our efforts, with a strong focus on road safety campaigns and infrastructure improvements. We continue to push for greater investment in road upgrades, particularly in high-traffic tourism corridors, alongside national education campaigns to improve road-sharing awareness between caravan users and other motorists. Ensuring our roads are safer will not only protect travellers but also enhance the overall appeal of caravanning as a preferred mode of travel.
Regional dispersal remains critical for sustaining tourism growth outside major metropolitan areas. We are advocating for policies that incentivise Australians to explore beyond traditional tourism hotspots, ensuring more economic benefits flow to regional and rural communities. This includes advocating for grants and funding that enhance the facilities and experiences offered by caravan parks in these areas, helping them attract more visitors and extend their length of stay.
With the election drawing closer, we will continue to press all sides of politics to recognise the caravan park sector’s vital role in domestic tourism, job creation, and regional development. By ensuring industry voices are heard at the highest levels, we remain committed to securing meaningful policy outcomes that drive long-term success for our industry businesses and the broader caravanning community.
We encourage all industry members to read our new political policy roadmap, The Road Ahead: A View to the Future, to understand where our priorities lie heading into the Federal Election. READ HERE
