Cruisin’ Motorhomes joins RVMAP
Becoming the first RVMAP-accredited rental operator isn’t just a headline for Cruisin’ Motorhomes.
It’s not the end goal either.
It’s a clear statement of intent from a company willing to invest in quality, safety and long-term improvement.
“We don’t view RVMAP as simply another accreditation or logo,” said Melanie Lucas from Cruisin’ Motorhomes. “It provides a recognised framework that encourages manufacturers to regularly review their systems, document their processes and maintain consistent standards.”
What’s RVMAP?
The Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Accreditation Program (RVMAP) is a voluntary accreditation program run by Caravan Industry Association of Australia. Accredited businesses commit to producing vehicles that meet Australian Design Rules and Federal Compliance Regulations. Businesses that meet the standard can display the RVMAP accreditation key badge. MORE
Why now?
Melanie described joining RVMAP as a “natural next step” for Cruisin’ Motorhomes – who also becomes the first Tasmania-based manufacturer in the program.
What started with just five Winnebago motorhomes 25 years ago is now a national fleet of over 700 rental vehicles, operating out of depots in Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Perth.
The business still buys vehicles from Avida, but it’s also become an approved second stage manufacturer, designing and building its own campervan range in Hobart.
“Becoming a second stage manufacturer required us to make a significant investment in our manufacturing systems, quality controls and internal processes,” Melanie explained. “RVMAP complements that work and provides another level of structure and accountability.”
Compliance gains
Each vehicle in the Cruisin’ Motorhomes fleet goes through a strict servicing schedule, detailed inspections and a pre-hire quality check each time it hits the road.
The business’ real compliance edge comes from the tight feedback loop between its manufacturing and rental arms. Because Cruisin’ Motorhomes builds exclusively for its own fleet, it can track each vehicle’s lifecycle, catch servicing needs early and roll out engineering updates fast.
RVMAP accreditation adds another layer, ensuring all this work doesn’t just live in one part of the business.
“It [RVMAP] adds further structure around our documentation, inspections and quality management systems,” said Melanie. “This helps ensure that any lessons learned or improvements identified are not handled in isolation but are consistently applied across our manufacturing and rental operations.
“As an extension, RVMAP allows us to officially benchmark our high standards against the best in the Australian RV industry.”

Driving confidence
For Melanie, it all comes back to trust. RVMAP reinforces Cruisin’ Motorhomes’ standing as a professional operator, giving customers, suppliers and industry partners confidence in how the business manufactures, maintains and operates its vehicles.
There’s a broader motivation at play too. Cruisin’ sees value in supporting initiatives that lift standards across the wider RV industry, not just within its own fleet.
“We are proud to be the first rental company and the first Tasmanian-based manufacturer to join the program,” Melanie said. “More importantly, we see it as another step in continuing to improve our vehicles, our systems and the overall customer experience.”
From five vans in Tasmania to a national operation employing people right across the country, Cruisin’ Motorhomes has never stood still. Joining RVMAP is just the latest step in a business that keeps investing in creating memorable experiences for thousands of travellers, in vehicles built to handle Australian conditions.
